A stunning Purple Hydrangea Hydrangea macrophylla along the roadside in Santana, on the north coast of Madeira island.
Madeira: Sugar Cane
Planted on Madeira since it was discovered in 1419, Sugar Cane produced 'white gold' and made Madeira a hub of activity in 15th and 16th Centuries. Still important today, it is used to make sugar cane molasses and 'Aguardente', the local firewater brandy.
